Newborn Family Portraits

In the process of updating the blog with current sessions, I came across this family session I have been intending to post for some time. I thought I'd add it in the mix here since it is such a great example of a newborn family session. A lot of our newborn session subjects happen to be first children, probably because it is such a major life change to become parents the first time! It is important to remember to capture the first weeks or months of every member of the family, since every new little person changes things in a family so much! I know this family will enjoy these images for years to come.....

Generational Portraits

We were recently able to photograph three exceptionally close generations of lovely Sacramento ladies together.

I personally love seeing these generational portraits and think they are SO important. Our family influences and defines us more than we could ever know. I have found myself looking back at photographs of my grandparents and great-grandparents, imagining what they would have been like and hoping to see something of myself in them. More often than not, I find it and feel connected to the past generations and humankind in general.

These lucky girls will grow up knowing and loving their mother and grandmother well...and have these images to remind them how much of themselves they inherited from the women who went before....

Pallari Cousins

AKA: SIX KIDS AND A DOUGHNUT

Sometimes everything goes smoothly...everyone's in a good mood and ready to be photographed. Othertimes we have to resort to measures we wouldn't normally imagine.
Measures like, well, chocolate doughnuts, for example.

Not that we'd expect 6 kids to all be feeling cooperative at the same time, but you pretty much have to take one of the few opportunities you get to have all the cousins in a family photographed together. We tell a lot of families that are living the chaos of this type of session, "don't worry, we're getting it." Sometimes they don't believe us until they see the images, but with a lot of patience and a little photoshop, anything is possible...

.....but not all fun and games. We always work hard to make your photographic experience the best it can be; sometimes that requires a sense of humor and some perspective. It's not always the most perfect image that tells the most perfect story. That's why we include an "outtakes" section on our webpage....and this one will definitely make it!

Thanks Pallari Family for your trust and patience (and doughnuts). We know you will enjoy these images for many years to come!
